Parents often ask us if a patient needs to be referred to an orthodontist by their general dentist or if a child should wait until age 12 before being checked by an orthodontist. The answer to both questions is “no.” The American Association of Orthodontists actually recommends an initial evaluation at age 7, when the first molars have erupted, if for no other reason than peace of mind. To highlight the fact that you can refer a patient, we have begun a promotion in the office which we are calling our “REFER-A-FRIEND” program.
When you refer a friend to our office, you will receive a $10 movie pass after they complete their initial exam. When the patient is ready for treatment to begin, we will send you a $25 gift certificate to Carousel Mall. Every six months, in July and January, we have a drawing from all the referral cards and award a family fun pack prize. The more patients you refer, the more chances you have to win! You can pick up the REFER-A-FRIEND cards at our office.
At least 60 percent of our patients are referred by parents and previous patients, and we really appreciate that! Nothing makes us happier than to receive a recommendation like that. It is our greatest compliment. We are a family-oriented practice, and we rely on our patients to spread the word! We also don’t want to take you for granted, so if there is anything we could do better or differently from your perspective, please call Dr. Meharg and let him know. Thank you!
